Mini Bamboo Forest in Loro Park at Teneriffe

A quick shoot with my iPhone set for HDR bracketing…

For those of you who had never visit the Canary Islands, this Loro Park is a must visit place. Great place with a piece of wildlife but more advanced a sea life combined with human perception… amazing dolphin, orcas and sea lions shows.

The Description from WIKI: “Loro Parque (Spanish for “parrot park”) is a 13.5-hectare (33-acre) zoo located on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz on Tenerife, Spain where it houses an extensive and diverse reserve of animal and plant species…”

A day well spend and even if it’s raining don’t worry as all shows are under the roof or some sort of tent so you won’t get wet.

This image was taken just at the entrance where you come aside of gorilla caves. It’s a special type of bamboo that is being grown in the park to be a bamboo forest. It’s not very tight but the leafs give in the African Sun amazing shadows that I had to capture

twelve to one

Another one from the London’s walk series.

This image I have managed to complete by exactly twelve different shots, however with only three exposures… -2/0/+2 ev…

The exact location of the image take is on the crossroad of St.Margaret’s Street and Bridge Street

There wasn’t a lot of inspiration to this image when I have first started to take it but I was soooooo keeen to see all those blury characters and vehicles…

Good thing I had a tripod with me :D

Westminster at night…

The image I have for you on this post is a continuation of the London’s photo walk I have done last weekend. The City inspiration is massive, however since I took this photo I’ve been missing inspiration to get it processed… now finally, the muse came to express… hehe

A simple image with only 3 exposure with +- 2 EV stops. Then I’ve added -1/3 and -2/3 EV stops processing (mainly because the light was a little bit too strong at 0EV, after I uploaded the image to the computer)  the RAW files using Aperture before combining the image with Photomatix. Simple solution

Finish touch was committed using Aperture. What I particularly like about this shoot is the difference in exposition and separate light performance in the bright, lid-up areas, in comparison to the not lid-up part… also, almost cloudless sky and stars shining shyly :)

Image

The wind wasn’t to strong that day, however the temperature was close to zero Celsius, so on the bridge it has been a bit chillllllllllllllwwwrrrrrrr.

As usual please feel free to comment and let me know what do you think about it :)

Cheers

Finally, after 7 years I found some time to visit the capital, London City!…

This image will start the series of HDR photographs that I took during this 2 day trip. They aren’t going to be many but I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did taking them :)

Panoramiczne ujęcia

Kilka zdjęć panoramicznych

To fotografie wykonane z wykorzystaniem Techniki o nazwie Slide Panorama

Zapraszamy do obejrzenia

The lighthouse at Jandía / Morro Jable beach, Fuertaventura

Just recently returned from the workshop and a series of photo walks at Africa’s Spanish island of Fuertaventura.

One of the places I have visited is the most popular tourist attraction, mainly for the German language speaking population named Morro Jable (= the original fishing village) and Jandía (= the “new” town). Since Jandía seamlessly passes into Morro Jable both towns together are just called “Jandía” in travel guides or magazines.

A vast, proper light-colour sand beach with fine sand (behind which there are protected salt meadows) is one of the main attractions as well as local cultural obelisks like the lighthouse, giant ancient sea creature skelet and many more. The Jandía as a city is mainly based on post volcanic mountains hills, facing the beach and the Atlantic Ocean.

Photographically the main benefit of the South Town location is that it’s geographically below the main Sahara’s dust, winds stream, so the air is much more clear than in the Central and Northern island areas however you could still see some smudges on the sky… looks pretty cool to me

The picture below has been taken at about 1500 GMT but as it is near earth’s equator the sun has still been quite high. Please have a look and do not hesitate to comment. Below I have placed the map.

The African week

Every now and then I find very useful to go to a country where you can find very different lighting conditions and to work with some photo shoots.

This time i have decided to organize a free workshop that was great success to me.

The interest has been so big that I had to extend it from 1 day to 2 days. The program was very easy and if you haven’t read it already this is it:

- landscape and city photography
- planes and sport (surfing)
- outdoor model photography without a flash
- and few other ideas that came along with the workshop

We didn’t have much luck with the surfing as the weather conditions were to soft for proper surfers.

The city and landscape photography was the best part of this workshop for me. But we had fun all those 2 days. We worked over some HDR images that will be put together later on. We had also few plans in sight

I have also worked with the workshop attendees to deliver them a bespoke video from this event and you shall see it soon.

These pictures posted now aren’t edited in any serious software, they have been only touched with iPad. Please enjoy and feel free to comment as always.

Cheers Michal

in The Girl’s Eyes

The emotions of the little girl’s eyes on this picture has been a mixture of happiness and disappointment. I wanted to show the softness and simplicity in the girl face expression. The mysterious lady is 2 years and 2 months old, and her name is Vicky.
